Bank Sumsel Babel Encourages Community Sustainable Economy Through Processing Used Cooking Oil Waste

Palembang- Bank Sumsel Babel distributed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance for processing used cooking oil waste at the Kenanga Waste Bank.  This CSR assistance includes waste processing equipment used in the used cooking oil processing process. This CSR is expected to also have an impact on the environment and the community's economy.

The President Director of Bank Sumsel Babel said that the role of BPD Bank Sumsel Babel is not only in running the company's business, but also in supporting environmental sustainability.  CSR assistance is not only considered a social obligation, but also as a productive investment that can develop in supporting the sustainability of the business sector and a good environment.  It is hoped that this assistance will not only provide direct economic benefits to the community, but also open up new opportunities in waste management in environmental conservation.  Of course, it is hoped that it will become a positive example as an agent of change in supporting economic and environmental sustainability.  The assistance was handed over by the Director of Bank Sumsel Babel to the Waste Bank Management, Nyimas Eli. "We are grateful for this assistance, and of course we will make the best use of it," he said.

As is known, processing of used cooking oil is carried out with a mixture of caustic soda, fragrance and coloring agents.  This process not only utilizes waste, but also prioritizes sustainability in an innovative way.  Caustic soda, used as a thickening agent for used cooking oil, is mixed with charcoal and left for 2 days before being processed into soap.  This effort is considered capable of optimizing household waste materials into products that are more useful and also have economic value.
